YOUR SOVEREIGN FOUND ON THE SEABED
In Victorian times, the Sovereign was recognised and used around the world, so it had to be transported by sea in large quantity. The RMS Douro left Lisbon on route from Rio de Janeiro to Southampton on 31 March 1882, but she never made it to port. The Douro was struck by a Spanish passenger ship and both vessels sunk within half an hour.
The Douro was carrying almost thousands of Victorian Young Head Sovereigns. They remained safely in the ship’s bullion room on the seabed for over 100 years until they were recovered in 1995. When they were auctioned the following year, they raised over £1.5m and are now seen as one of the most fascinating Sovereigns you could hope to own.
Here's why the Victorian Shipwreck Sovereign is a CPM Presitge recommendation...
• A genuine Sovereign from the RMS Douro shipwreck
• The coins were locked in the ship’s bullion room and sat on the seabed for over 100 years
• Minted in London, Melbourne and Sydney, they had been collected from a Lisbon bank and were never circulated
• Very limited stock available
What's more, you can split your payments into ten interest free instalments every 30 days.
