The States of Guernsey, Jersey and Gibraltar each possess long and illustrious histories all their own, a part of which is the circulation of their own coinage.  As crown dependencies, the coins of these three territories all feature Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse and are considered legal currency in the United Kingdom, though not necessarily legal tender.  The circulating coins from these three all feature the same denominations the similar specifications as their United Kingdom counterparts.

Commemorative precious metal issues have also been produced on behalf of these authorities for a number of years - in the case of Guernsey dating back to 1981 to their first gold coin issue.

Over recent years coins from these territories have compared favourably in the eyes of collectors to those produced by the United Kingdom, due in the main to the much smaller mintages which coins are generally released with.
