Silver Piedfort coins, which are double the weight of the standard issue, are always issued with a lower edition limit, making them popular amongst serious collectors.
Usually Piedfort versions have an edition limit set at half that of the standard coin, but The Royal Mint has placed an extra-strict edition limit on the Silver Piedfort for this new £5, authorising just 2,000 coins in comparison to the 5,000 standard issue Silver Proof Coins.
That's just 40% of the standard coin edition limit.
Countless collectors will be left disappointed.
