The Battle of Britain was a crucial World War II conflict between the British Roy-al Air Force (RAF) and the German Luftwaffe. It took place from July to October 1940, following the fall of France. The Luftwaffe aimed to gain air superiority over Britain to pave the way for a potential invasion. Despite relentless bombing raids targeting airfields, factories, and cities, the RAF successfully defended the skies. This victory not only prevented a German invasion but also marked a turning point in the war, boosting Allied morale and proving that Hitler’s forces could be defeated.

SPITFIRE VICTORY - A Spitfire in flight. The Spitfire achieved legendary status during the Battle of Britain, a reputation aided by the "Spitfire Fund" organised and run by Lord Beaverbrook.  Spitfire units had a higher victory-to-loss ratio than Hurricanes.
SQUADRON SCRAMBLE - Four pilots running across the airfield to their planes
SIR HUGH DOWDING - In 1936 he was appointed Commander-in-Chief of RAF Fighter Command and spearheaded the development of the air defence network that gave the RAF a critical advantage during the Battle of Britain.
ERIC LOCK - He completed his training in 1940 and was posted to No. 41 Squadron RAF in time for the Battle of Britain. Lock became the RAF's most successful Allied pilot during the battle, shooting down 21 German aircraft
HOMEWARD BOUND - Hurricanes flying home over the White Cliffs of Dover

All designs feature the wording BATTLE OF BRITAIN 85, with Spitfire and Hurricane silhouettes. The Leader design has the background of Bentley Priory, and the Ace design includes the background of the White Cliffs of Dover.
